Almost Home Animal Rescue and Adoption, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2007 by a group of dedicated and compassionate volunteers with many years of shelter experience. Our mission is two fold. First, we rescue abused and abandoned animals and re-home them with loving families. We rescue from all over, including local town shelters, city shelters, private surrenders, from hurricane stricken areas like North Carolina and Puerto Rico, from our community outreach program and through the SOI Foundation in Thailand, who saves dogs that were destined for the meat trade in China. We rescue many animals that other organizations will not help, including dogs and cats that are older and have medical conditions needing treatment or surgery. Second, we have the largest community outreach program on Long Island, called Training Wheels, where we help families in economically challenged areas take care of their pets by providing free food, free medical (including spay & neuter) and education. Especially, now, during a global pandemic, the community needs us more than ever. We rely solely on donations and fundraisers. 100% of all money donated and all proceeds from fundraising events go toward the care of our animals. Our volunteers are passionate about what they do and it shows! Over the past 12 years, we have rescued and re-homed over 4,000 dogs and cats! Please help us continue our life's work.
